Sauna Etiquette & Safety Tips At The Paddock Wellness Club

-
Swimwear Required: For modesty and hygiene, please ensure you wear swimwear at all times. Nudity is not allowed in the sauna.
-
Personal Hygiene: It’s highly recommended that you shower before entering the sauna. This helps maintain a clean environment, and the warm water helps open your pores, preparing your body to release toxins and relax your muscles more effectively.
-
Stay Hydrated: Saunas promote sweating, which can lead to dehydration. Drink plenty of water before, during, and after your session to keep your body properly hydrated and support the detoxification process.
-
Towel Usage: Always sit on a towel for hygiene purposes. This not only keeps the sauna clean for others but also prevents direct contact with the hot bench, offering a more comfortable experience.
-
Remove Jewellery: Heat can cause discomfort or burns when in direct contact with metal. We recommend removing any jewellery to avoid any potential discomfort from hot surfaces.
-
Respect Other Guests: Always be considerate of others’ space and privacy. The sauna is a place for relaxation, so try to keep conversations quiet and respect the peaceful environment.
-
Safety Around Heat Sources: Do not touch the sauna stove, stove door, chimney, rocks, or fire guards, as they can reach extremely high temperatures and cause serious burns. These are not only hazards to your safety but could disrupt the overall sauna experience for everyone.
-
How to Use the Sauna Rocks: When adding water to the sauna rocks, always pour slowly and carefully. PLEASE DO NOT POUR MORE THAN A FEW LADLES ON AT ONE TIME AS THIS CAN DAMAGE AND CAUSE PERMANENT DAMAGE TO THE HEATER. Start from the farthest point from you to avoid burns from the steam, known as löyly, and to ensure a more pleasant atmosphere for everyone.
-
Session Duration: For safety, limit your sauna time to 10-15 minutes per session. If you're more experienced with sauna use, 20 minutes is an acceptable maximum. Prolonged exposure to high heat can be taxing on the body, especially for new users. For beginners, start with shorter sessions to allow your body to gradually adjust to the heat.
-
Enter & Exit Safely: Always enter and exit the sauna with caution, ensuring the door is securely closed behind you to maintain temperature control and avoid unnecessary exposure to the heat for others.
-
Essential Oils: Please refrain from placing your own essential oils directly onto the sauna stove or rocks. This can create an overwhelming fragrance or be hazardous to your health. If you wish to use aromatherapy, kindly ask staff for guidance on safe options.
Plunge Pool Guidelines & Safety Information at The Paddock Wellness Club

For a safe and enjoyable experience, please follow these guidelines when using our plunge pools:
-
Pre-plunge Shower: To maintain a clean and hygienic environment for all guests, please shower before entering the plunge pools. This not only prepares your body for the cold immersion but also enhances your overall wellness experience by promoting better circulation and relaxation.
-
Start Slowly: If you're new to cold immersion, begin with short sessions lasting 30 seconds to 5 minutes. Gradually increase your time as your body adapts to the cold. This progressive approach helps reduce the risk of shock and allows you to fully enjoy the benefits of the contrast therapy at your own pace.
-
Listen to Your Body: Cold water immersion should leave you feeling revitalized, not uncomfortable. Try not to over do it if you feel lightheaded, excessively cold, or experience discomfort, exit the plunge pool slowly and carefully. Your well-being is our top priority.
-
Safety First: Always enter and exit the cold plunges carefully to avoid accidents. Once exited please make sure you have fully towel dried before walking back through the building to the sauna.
We prioritize your safety and well-being, and if you have any questions or concerns, our team is always here to assist you please contact info@thepaddockwellnessclub.co.uk
